How About Some Free Apps?

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 11:30 AM

"Below are downloads of several free applications available for a limited time from Apple's App Store, with price drops from $1 to $3."

You may or may not find these useful, but for now, they are free at least as of today.

  • Buzzbuka Covert iPhone to iPhone messaging app using morse code via vibration;
  • Steel Guitar Steel guitar simulator;
  • Parking Pal Never lose your car again;
  • iwebwag Simplistic and customizable news reader;
  • Weather Clock Clock which displays weather conditions (US only);
  • FaceSync Syncs your iPhone contact photos with Facebook contact photos.

Of all of these apps, I've only used the Parking Pal app, which is actually quite good. In fact, I may have paid for it. So if you are interested, have a look since free means no risk, but who knows how long they will remain that way.

Competition for Fandango on the iPhone: MovieFone

Posted by Jeff Campbell in "Apple Software (iPhone/iPod Touch)" @ 01:00 PM

Hot on the heels of Fandango, AOL has released Moviefone, a free application for the iPhone and iPod touch. Moviefone can find your nearest theaters, movie times, trailers, and in some cases you can buy tickets.

There are some issues such as not being able to buy tickets at all locations and theaters in search may or may not be the closest one to you. But MovieFone has some nice features, such as being able to touch the phone number for the theater to call it, and linking to your address book if you want to get a group together to go with you to the movie. And you can't beat the price.
